Special Thanks To An Inspiring Young Lady

alex

We would like to thank Alex for raising over $200 in lieu of gifts at her 13th birthday party. We are extremely touched to have her think of us on her special day.

This inspiring young lady is an older sister of two of our participants. She volunteered at Camp Bonaventure last summer and will be returning to camp this year. She even recruited two of her friends to volunteer!

Thanks again Alex for your tremendous support and thoughtfulness!

"Between The Ropes" with Stephen Ames

We would like to thank Pinebrook Golf and Country Club for hosting "Between The Ropes" and giving 20 BFC youth an opportunity to learn from Pro Golfer, Stephen Ames. Stephen was inspiring to watch as he gave each participant a lesson in golf. Not only did each participant get a lesson, they all received a signed golf ball from Stephen Ames himself.

We would also like to thank the 20 Pinebrook Juniors for sharing their tips and techniques to our participants. It was a fun, exciting day for everyone involved.

5th Calgary Timeraiser

Between Friends Club is a beneficiary at the 5th Calgary Timeraiser at Flames Central on Thursday, June 17 at 6:30p.m.

Join us for an incredible night of speed-dating for volunteerism and a silent art auction where you bid your time instead of cash for original works of art (after you complete your pledge).

Their goal is to raise over 6,500 volunteer hours for the 25+ charities, us being one of them, in the room.

Plus, they are giving away a pair of WestJet tickets, any where WestJet flies! All you have to do during the Timeraiser is tell the world via Twitter or Facebook what you like about getting involved in the community.

They are also partnering with WIND mobile, where they will be giving away a Blackberry at the event. So tell your friends and get your tickets today. Get tickets at www.timeraiser.ca

On March 13, over 45 teams gathered at the Olympic Oval for the 17th Annual Skate, Walk or Wheel a-Kid-to-Camp. Teams dressed as Wizard of Oz characters, referees, rockstars, 80's fitness, sunday's best, super heros, and we even had a sasquatch! Proceeds from the event will support the Camp Bonaventure fee subsidy program which ensures camp is accessible and affordable to everyone who wants to participate.

Our goal this year was to raise $150,000; we exceeded our goal tremendously by raising a $170,000. This will provide 557 camp subsidies for children with and without disabilities.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors, event donors, participants, and volunteers.

Your support was an integral part of our success! We couldn't have done it without you!

SAK-APALOOZA 2010

sponsors

On February 20, we hosted Sak-apalooza at Hextor's Pub. Galactic Butterfly and bORDERLINE put on a fantastic show and got everybody on the dance floor. Thanks to generous sponsors we raised over $24,000. This event is a kick off to Skate, Walk or Wheel a-Kid-to-Camp. All the proceeds go towards camp subsidies.

We would like to thank Gerry David for making this event a success and all of those who purchased a ticket.

BRUNCH WITH SANTA

On December 5, we hosted Brunch with Santa. Approximately 25 families plowed through the snow to join us for this festive event. Everybody enjoyed a tasty brunch and had the pleasure of viewing the animated film, Planet 51. Furthermore, each child received a teddy bear and a hand-knitted toque from our favorite man in red!

We would like to thank Build-A-Bear for donating the bears as well as Audrey Hovis for donating and knitting the toques. We would also like to thank all the families who donated back their family deposit. Your generosity helped us raise $400.

This event is free of charge to our families so the support we received from all our donors and volunteers is extremely appreciated.
