Skate, Walk or Wheel a-Kid-to-Camp

Grant the wish of summer fun by participating in Between Friends Club recreation for people with disabilities’ annual Skate, Walk or Wheel a-Kid-to-Camp on March 13th from 2-5 p.m. at the Olympic Oval.

Skate, Walk or Wheel a-Kid-to-Camp is a family-focused relay in which teams of four to eight people compete to raise the most money, complete the most laps, create the best costumes, and, of course, have the most fun. “This is our largest and most important fundraising event,” says Suzanne Jackett, CEO of the Calgary charity. “It is a significant event for the success of Camp Bonaventure, Calgary’s only outdoor day camp for children and teens up to 17 years of age with or without disabilities.

The 17th Annual event aims to raise $150,000 in sponsorships and pledges with an anticipated 30 teams participating. There’s great entertainment, fantastic prizes and a raffle sponsored by Air Canada Kids’ Horizons that includes a trip for two. Funds from the event will support the fee subsidy program which ensures camp is accessible and affordable to everyone who wants to participate. Proceeds from this event will help approximately 600 youth experience summer camp.

“Camp Bonaventure has been an amazing experience for our son Taylor” states a parent. “He has dared to do things like horseback riding and sailing. He loves every moment at camp and can’t wait to go back. Thank you Between Friends Club for allowing our son to be a regular kid and have a wonderful summer camp experience.”

Between Friends Club Golf Charity Classic

The Between Friends Club Golf Charity Classic has been revived!!!!

The 2010 tournament will take place on August 23 at Pinebrook Golf and Country Club. We are looking for sponsors, golfers, volunteers, raffle items, and auction items.

ALLIES FOR AUTISM

10th Annual Walk and Run Fundraiser

Allies for Autism has been supporting us for numerous years. Last year we received $10,000 towards subsidies for our participants with autism who were registered in our W.E.S.O.A.R! Programs.

Each year, Allies for Autism Foundation hosts a fall Walk and Run Fundraiser at the Al Azhar Temple. This year, the event takes place Sunday, September 20. Each entry includes a commemorative T-Shirt, BBQ, Autism Information Exhibit, and the opportunity to win exciting prizes.
